About Lincoln Castle AcademY redevelopment

Lincoln Castle Academy is a secondary school with an existing capacity of 900 pupils (aged 11 to 16 years). The school site currently contains multiple education blocks providing different elements of the curriculum.  It is maintained by Delta Academies Trust.

This is a new build project. The existing school buildings are to be demolished and redeveloped to provide a new educational teaching block, separate new sports hall block, Multi Use Games Area (MUGA), reconfiguration of outdoor playground areas, provision of new landscaping, and the use of part of the playing field for temporary school accommodation.

The development will be delivered in phases. In the first instance, temporary accommodation will be sited on the playing field to allow classrooms to decant from some of the existing school buildings. The Art/Drama and Foodtech/DT blocks will then be demolished to allow for the new block to be built on their footprint. Once the new block is constructed the remaining blocks will be demolished in a staggered manner starting with the Main Hall/3 storey classroom block and ending with the Sports Block to ensure that indoor sport provision is not impacted until the new Sports Hall is built.

The arrangement of the proposed development allows the school, alongside the All Weather Pitch (AWP) and most of the playing field, to remain operational during the construction period to ensure there is minimal disruption to the curriculum and school life.

The proposed redevelopment of Lincoln Castle Academy is intended to support the school in achieving an improved environment that helps to support its mission statement.

Plans are currently being prepared for the redevelopment of the Academy which, when finalised, will be submitted to Lincoln City Council as a full planning application.

The latest proposals for the new school designs are set out on this website. They are the culmination of partnership and consultation with Delta Academies Trust, the school and the Department for Education. These designs are only the initial ideas for the proposed new school on its existing site.

We would like to invite local residents and stakeholders to come together to contribute their ideas for the proposed redevelopment of Lincoln Castle Academy. Your contribution will help to further develop those initial designs.

Please provide your feedback by filling in the form on the contact page.
